The city of Gent (Ghent) is one of Belgium's most beautiful communities. Conveniently located between Brussels and Bruges, Gent features medieval buildings, canals and a host of tourist attractions. There are several interesting museums and galleries and some pretty parks and gardens.
	The city of Ghent has a long and interesting history that dates back to the iron age. In the 13th century, Ghent was the second largest city in Europe, after Paris. Today, it is a magnet for tourists from around the globe. Many excellent hotels, B&Bs and other tourist accommodation is available in and around Ghent.
Many visitors arrive in Ghent via the Brussels International Airport. Passenger rail service is available between Ghent and the airport. Visitors from the UK can catch a ferry to Ostend. Ghent is a short train ride from the Ostend ferry terminal.
